As a member of the flower team for St Mary's Church Bury St Edmunds, I have many years of experience in floral arrangements for weddings and special occasions.
I can therefore offer you a package deal in which I not only entertain your guests, but also decorate the room or rooms in which your event is to take place!
Below is a rough guide to the items which I have found to be the most popular:
1) Large bridal pedastles.
2) Small ivy encircled pedestle with candle.
3) Large velvet or organza ribbons, with or without flowers and foliage.
4) Large swags, either for long table centre pieces or hung on pillars.
5) Small swags, used either for smaller tables, pew ends, or doorposts.
A large part of flower arranging is also the ability to assess what would look good in a particular room or hall end to adjust ones decorations accordingly. For example, if there is a large impressive door, it is a good idea to make the most of this feature! Culumns, windows and other beautiful pieces of architecture can be utalised and enhanced to very good effect.
It is also a challenge to do ones best to use interesting and unusual items in the arrangements! For example, an autumn wedding can use rosy apples, sheaves of wheat, rose hips and other autumn fruits and foliage to achieve a completely unique effect! This can also serve to make the event cheaper and greener by drawing on locally sourced raw materials.
As a freelancer, I do not have the added costs incurred by owning a shop, or keeping staff. I really am able to offer you more for less!! The average event costs my clients about £100, and includes many more actual flower arrangements than you would get from a regular florist.
